On Friday, October 25th, 2019, Liberty State Overland Club members met up at the Curtis Gilbert Lodge at Camp Fife for the annual Halloween 4×4 Run. We set up our camper and brought in firewood for the weekend. Odo built a fire in the stove and lite all the propane cabin lights. We had a potluck bratwurst dinner.

Saturday morning we had a potluck breakfast and then headed out for the 4×4 run with six Jeep made rigs and a Ford Ranger. I rode with our son Charlie in his sister’s XJ. Our first stop was at the end of the pavement of Bumping River Road to air down. Next we headed up the road toward Granite Lake. We hit a little snow on the way up. Once at Granite Lake, we stopped to take in the beautiful view. Our Black Lab Shelby took a swim in the cold lake after falling through the ice.

After awhile, we headed on. I was not feeling well, so Charlie drove us back to camp. The rest of the group went up the mountain to Miners Ridge and then over to Copper City.

Back at camp my wife and sister-in-law were working on dinner. When the others got back, we had a potluck dinner. It got real cold that night.

Sunday morning we had a potluck breakfast, packed up for home, and cleaned the lodge. We head home in the early afternoon.

This we a great time thanks to all who came.

Camp Fife is a Boy Scout camp and is located in the Cascades off of Chinook Pass near Bumping Lake in Goose Prairie, Washington.
